Romney v Obama:  Race to the Bottom

Governor Romney is promising that if we deregulate business and reduce their tax burden, they’ll create tons of jobs. President Obama is saying that the recovery has been successful and that we just need to stay the course. But wait! Corporate profits have been at an all-time high since mid-2009, yet so has unemployment; and the jobs created over the last four years are considered low-wage. Neither of these guys has a decent plan to help the 99%, but one is less worse than the other.

Libya:  OK, but why now?

We are $14 trillion dollars in debt; a number so vast that it is actually hard to wrap one’s mind around its enormity. Yet the current administration felt somehow justified in firing over $100 million dollars’ worth of Cruise Missiles into Libya in an attempt to stem a ruthless dictator’s efforts to keep from being overthrown. As of the writing of this article, Muammar al-Gaddafi has been in power for 41 years, 34 days. So please tell me, Mr. President, and Presidents past: Did Mr. Gaddafi’s rule somehow become unacceptable overnight? …

The “Half Way Legistlation” Effect

One of the biggest problems with the current two party system is that it consistently leads to the creation of “half-way legislation”.  A perfect example of this phenomenon is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)1.  Without going into an in-depth analysis of the entire 906 page bill, let us agree to the following as a basis for discussion.
